Want to know how to get the most out of only 5 days in England? Read the actual itinerary of one of our Social Travellers!
Hi all, my name is Sarah and I wanted to tell you about my experience booking with Social Travel and the awesome itinerary they put together for me while I was in England. I hope it inspires you to get out there and see the world in a different way!
Day 1: Bristol – Have you ever watched “Exit Through The Gift Shop”? This is the birthplace of the amazing and political graffiti artist, Banksy. Walk through the streets of Bristol on a graffiti tour to check out his work and the works of many talented artists. The culture jumps out at you! Bristol was where we called home for the 5 days we stayed in England.
Day 2: Avebury – We really wanted to visit Stonehenge but heard that you couldn’t walk up to the stones. Avebury was recommended as it would be a very similar experience (large stones) and we would have more freedom on the grounds. We were there with a handful of other tourists which made the experience so unique. There is a small pub right across the street from Avebury which made for the perfect ending to the day.
Day 3: Bath – Known for its Roman-built baths, this was a destination not to be missed. We arrived in England just before the Holidays and there was a gigantic Christmas market taking place. It has been awhile since I’ve felt the same Holiday cheer that I remember as a child but the smells of mulled wine, the warmth from the delicious local meats and the sound of children singing carols would make any Scrooge rethink his life choices.
Day 4: Cheddar – As the name might have hinted, this IS where real farmhouse cheddar cheese comes from (it’s not a myth!) and it is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. The little town is nestled in between cliffs – with one of the highest peaks in the UK located in Cheddar. Along with the real farmhouse cheddar cheese, you have got to try some of their Scrumpy Cider.
Day 5: London – We started this journey quite early as London is about a 2 hour drive from Bristol. We were able to see the amazing sites of the Piccadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square, the Tower of London and, obviously, Big Ben. Seeing London on our last day after spending the majority of the week in smaller towns was almost overwhelming. But it was the best way to spend our final day and really brought the trip to a close knowing that we had hit the major city!
This is definitely just one example of the experiences you can have abroad. We understand that everyone has their own way of travelling and Social Travel is here to help organise the best travel experience for your specific desires and needs.
Happy Travels!
