Words that have created the life motto for Sudarshan Jagannathan, the founder and CEO of Social Travel, an innovative social enterprise that is challenging how we travel. It is one thing to understand this message, but it is entirely different to intentionally live it on a daily basis.
You could probably say that being socially conscious was in his destiny from the time that he was born, in Gandhi’s own sanctuary in Wardha, Western India. His family always encouraged him to read about the world, which obviously led to him wanting to explore the world for himself. Some trips that he took around India opened his eyes to his home’s rich history and subcultures. In the last 14 years, Suds (as his friends call him) moved from India to Canada, where he has made a name for himself in the finance, telecom industries and the non-profit sector. His last role was Director of Business Development for Travelport, one of the largest travel technology companies around. Now, he has a new passion project in Social Travel.
Suds’ intends for Social Travel to “become a go to hub for information related to travel, products, deals, impact on the environment, wildlife, travel as the cause for poverty in some cases and how to contribute to improving the world from an individual level”. Social Travel provides travel services at the same market prices but aggregates your travel towards group discounts and donates a significant part of profits towards sustainable travel. Social Travel is an entirely holistic experience for everyone who joins in this endeavour as you are able to have a say where the money is donated.
“We can all live in a sharing and caring world”.
Suds has taken his skill and expertise and applied it to creating a better world. How can your decisions make a bigger impact?
